I purchased duckweed online. It arrived in a small jar and I promptly put it in No 2 wash tubs upon arrival. This morning the tiny plants are more yellow than yesterday. Is this normal? Did I kill them already?!

This is great to hear as we have a large growth of duckweed which I extract from natural ponds anyway! We leave it next to the pond so any organisms can climb back in to the water, at the same time it dries out and we compost it! So pleased to close the cycle with this. If anyone wants any they are more than welcome.

Hello, I would love to know where I can find those podcasts. I think it’s a great idea to discuss this kind of things. I’m a scientist myself and sometimes feels like this is missing in permaculture. I hope they still exist somewhere even though it’s been a while since this post

In reply to Quail Springs. Using the undeniable existence of very old and functional cob houses in England and Australia, to educate people here in Ventura County is appropriate. All soils are different, so building robustly enough to account for the variations in clay density is needed. Walls should be much thicker at the bottom than at the top for inherent stability. An eight feet tall wall might be two feet thick at the bottom and nine inches thick at the top. Are any local architects or engineers on board?
